Review Run
Review Run is the guided workflow for completing a client review for one accounting period. It makes the Arboris loop explicit: connect data, surface material changes, generate an evidence-backed Review Brief, approve or edit a Report Draft, export a client-ready PDF, and mark the period reviewed.
Use Review Run when you want period tracking and readiness checks around the report. Use the regular Reports tab when you only need a direct PDF export.
The Review Period
Section titled “The Review Period”The default period is the most recent fully closed calendar month in the firm’s timezone.
Each Review Run stores its own period start, period end, period label, period granularity, and timezone. This keeps the review tied to the accounting period you meant to review, even if newer data syncs later.
Current alpha Review Runs are monthly. Multi-month ranges, quarterly packages, and custom fiscal calendars are outside the current Review Run scope.
Readiness Checks
Section titled “Readiness Checks”Before Arboris generates a Review Brief, it checks whether the client is ready for that period.
Blocking readiness checks include:
- QuickBooks is actively connected.
- The latest successful sync is fresh enough for the period.
- P&L coverage exists for the selected period.
- Balance Sheet coverage exists for the selected period.
- Transaction evidence exists for drill-down support.
- The AI provider is available when brief generation is requested.
Non-blocking checks include anomaly evidence and KPI suppressions. These can still affect confidence and wording, but they do not always stop the review.
Workflow States
Section titled “Workflow States”Review Run status labels are designed to show the next useful action:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not started | A review exists for the period, but work has not begun. |
| Needs sync | QuickBooks is disconnected, missing, failed, running, or stale for the period. |
| Blocked by data gap | Required evidence is missing for the selected period. |
| Ready | The client is ready to review. |
| In progress | The review has started. |
| Brief ready | The AI Review Brief is ready for CFO review. |
| Draft ready | The Report Draft is ready for final edits. |
| Exported | The report was exported and can be marked reviewed. |
| Reviewed for period | The CFO marked the period reviewed. |
| Needs attention | A generation or export step failed and needs retry after the blocker is resolved. |
Review Brief
Section titled “Review Brief”The Review Brief is a governed AI summary. It is not the final report.
Every generated brief includes sections for executive summary, material changes, KPI exceptions or suppressions, anomalies, client questions, watchouts, confidence and citation summary, and data gaps.
Claims in the brief must carry evidence citations or clearly explain why evidence is missing. Confidence values use the same High, Moderate, and Low semantics as AI Chat and report narratives.
Report Draft
Section titled “Report Draft”The Report Draft is editable before export. You can revise report title, executive wording, CFO notes, client questions, watchout wording, selected sections, and section order.
System-owned fields are not editable. Arboris keeps source financial values, KPI formulas, anomaly IDs, citations, confidence scores, readiness blockers, status history, generation timestamps, export timestamps, and acting user IDs under system control.
Export
Section titled “Export”When the draft is ready, export creates the client-ready PDF for the Review Run period and moves the run to Exported.
If the Review Brief or readiness evidence changed after draft creation, Arboris can require you to regenerate or acknowledge stale readiness before exporting. That protects the report from silently using old evidence.
After export, mark the run reviewed when the client-ready delivery is complete.
Current Scope
Section titled “Current Scope”Review Run readiness uses QuickBooks as the source integration. Xero, CSV import, client portal delivery, and client emails from the Review Run workflow are outside the current alpha scope.
